About CMJ Electrical

CMJ Electrical was set up by Chris Jones in 2019. Before starting the company, Chris worked as an electrician for several years on commercial sites across South Wales, including schools, offices and industrial units. When he set up on his own, he wanted to do the same quality of work for domestic customers that he'd been doing on commercial sites.

We're based in CF3, on the east side of Cardiff. Most of our work is in Cardiff itself, but we regularly cover Penarth, Barry, Newport and the Vale of Glamorgan. We're not a large national company. It's Chris and a small team of qualified electricians. That means the person who quotes the job is usually the person who does it.

What we do

We cover all the main domestic electrical services, including full and partial house rewires, consumer unit upgrades, EICR testing, lighting installation, electric showers, smart home installation and smoke alarm systems. On the commercial side, we work on offices, retail units, schools, warehouses and industrial premises.

All our work is carried out to BS7671, the current edition of the wiring regulations. Notifiable work is registered with NAPIT and your local authority is notified automatically. You receive the relevant certificates on completion.

How we work

We quote before we start. That means you know the price before any work begins, and there are no surprises on the invoice. For straightforward jobs, we can often give a price over the phone. For larger jobs like rewires or commercial fit-outs, we'll come and look at the property first and give you a written quote.

We get back to enquiries the same day. If you leave a message or send an email in the morning, you'll hear from us before the end of the day. We're not perfect, but that's what we aim for.

When we say we'll be there at 8am, we aim to be there at 8am. Electrical work causes enough disruption without an electrician who shows up two hours late. We take schedules seriously.
