Smoke Alarm Installation Cardiff
Mains-wired interlinked smoke and carbon monoxide alarms for Cardiff homes and landlords. Required for all rental properties in Wales under the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016.
The Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 requires landlords to provide mains-wired smoke alarms on every floor of a rented property, along with a carbon monoxide alarm in every room containing a gas appliance or solid fuel appliance. These must be interlinked, meaning if one triggers, they all go off. Battery-only alarms no longer meet the requirement for new tenancies.
What we install
Optical and ionisation alarms wired to the mains with battery backup. Interlinked throughout the property. Positioned in hallways, landings and living areas as required.
Mains-wired CO alarms required in any room with a gas boiler, gas fire or solid fuel appliance. Interlinked with the smoke alarm system.
Suitable for kitchens where a standard smoke alarm would trigger from cooking. Interlinked with the rest of the system.
Welsh landlords: what the regulations require
Under the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016: mains-powered smoke alarms on every floor, CO alarm in every room with a combustion appliance. Interlinked is a requirement, not a recommendation. Battery-only alarms do not comply. We install to BS 5839 Part 6.
Homeowners
If you're not a landlord, mains-wired alarms are still the best option for your home. They run continuously without needing battery changes and interlink automatically. We can often install a full system in a day, working from the consumer unit.
New builds and extensions require smoke detection to Part B of the Building Regulations. We install systems that meet these requirements and issue the relevant certification.
